Jan. 15 parking bans rescheduled to Jan. 18

Parking bans declared for purpose of snow removal on January 18

Public encouraged to use alternate routes wherever possible

The Town declared parking bans for the purpose of snow removal on Thursday, January 18 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. along the following maintenance routes (weather and equipment dependent):

  • Clark Avenue from McRae Street to Elma Street East
  • Elma Street East from Clark Avenue to Veterans Way
  • Elma Street West from Veterans Way to Elk Avenue
  • Elma Street West from Elk Avenue to Northridge Drive
  • Elk Avenue from Elizabeth Street to Elma Street West

In accordance with Traffic Bylaw 10-10, sections 4.20, 4.21, and 4.22, all vehicles and obstructions must be removed from the road during the parking ban timeframe. While parking bans are in effect, public are encouraged to use alternate routes wherever possible to allow for road crews to work efficiently and safely. All other services such as waste collection, emergency responders and mail deliveries will not be affected.

In November 2020, signs designating maintenance routes were installed along key traffic corridors to allow the Town to issue temporary parking bans. This helps to increase overall efficiency when providing road maintenance services, including snow clearing, street sweeping and road construction.

Residents are encouraged to visit okotoks.ca and the Town’s social media channels for the latest updates. Details regarding parking bans and maintenance routes are also available at okotoks.ca/maintenance-routes. For further inquiries, please contact Okotoks Municipal Enforcement at 403.995.6302 or the Transportation business centre at 403.938.8952.

The Town appreciates the community’s support and cooperation while transportation crews continue to deliver road maintenance services.
