The Town appreciates the measures residents take each year to lower water use during the peak demand periods in summer months. Managing our water resources wisely, with your help, is important so our community can rely on our water system for many years to come.

Did you know?

  • Approximately 49% of household waste is organic waste and 28% is recyclable.
  • You can use the Okotoks Waste App to find out where your waste goes: Blue, Green or Black cart.

Watering Tips

  • Watering plants with a container or hose with a manual trigger nozzle is always allowed!
  • Grass only needs 1 inch of water/week! Less water = stronger roots.
  • New sod or growing from seed? Get a watering exemption permit.


How can you reduce your water consumption?

  • Check for costly leaks both indoors and outdoors.
  • Use a rain barrel to reduce outdoor water usage.
  • Install low-flow shower heads and toilets.
  • A healthy lawn only needs 1 inch of water/week.
