Okotoks is a Bee City

Bees and other pollinators around the globe have experienced dramatic declines due to land fragmentation, habitat loss, use of pesticides, industrialized agriculture, climate change, and the spread of pests and diseases, with serious implications for the future health of the environment. By signing the Bee City Canada resolution, the Town of Okotoks is committed to protecting pollinators and their habitats.

Okotoks Pollinator Week

Pollinator Week is an annual event celebrated internationally in support of pollinator health. It's a time to celebrate pollinators and spread the word about what we can do to protect them. Be sure to share your story about how you are helping pollinators by using the hashtag #PollinatorWeek.

Fun Fact: with over 700 native species in Canada, bees are the most common pollinators. Other pollinators include butterflies, moths, wasps, flies, some types of beetles, hummingbirds and some bat species!
