This program offers Grade 5 students a variety of fun, FREE  ways to learn and experience all the awesome activities at the Okotoks Recreation Centre. This program helps instill the importance of regular physical activity and generates healthy habits that will help keep kids active for life. 

Different activities and skills include swimming, basketball, and skating, as well as special events planned throughout the year. Grade 5 Gets Active pass holders can participate in all drop-in public swims, skate and gym times.  

3 easy steps to get your Okotoks Grade 5 Gets Active pass:

1. Complete the Waiver Form and a Recreation Client Services representative will contact you once the pass has been processed. 

2. Check out drop-in times on the online recreation schedule, and watch for special events planned throughout the year.

3. Get active by checking in at Client Services every time you visit the Okotoks Recreation Centre or Centennial Arenas.

Who is eligible for the Grade 5 Gets Active pass?

• To participate in the program your child must be a resident of the Town of Okotoks or Foothills County attending a school in Okotoks or the region.

Where and when can you use it?

You can use your Grade 5 Get Active pass ANY time at the Okotoks Recreation Centre and Centennial Arenas for all public and family drop in opportunities. Check the recreation schedule often!

We're offering Grade 8 students in Okotoks the opportunity to feel empowered, healthy and energized! Grade 8 students, this program is just for you to help you be fit while having fun! The Okotoks Active8 team has put together a wide variety of fun activities at the Okotoks Recreation Centre to help motivate you and get you moving. There's loads to do at the Okotoks Recreation Centre! This cool program offers fun, FREE ways to learn and experience all the activities at the Recreation Centre, including the fitness centre, swimming, basketball, and volleyball to keep active for life. And there are a few free cultural events too.

1. Complete the Waiver Form and a Recreation Client Services representative will contact you once the pass has been processed.

• Call or visit Client Services to get a replacement card - they cost $5!

Fridays are Youth Nights at the Okotoks Recreation Centre! Attendees have exclusive access to the Youth Centre, the ORC Gymnasium and the pools.

National Youth Week is May 1 – 7 every year. This week is dedicated to the celebration of youth and your active participation in this community. Whether it is recreation, drama, sport, dance, civic engagement, art, volunteerism or leadership, every day young people are involved in meaningful activities. National Youth Week is a time to honour your involvement and celebrate!

Each year the Town celebrates by hosting fun events for youth! 

LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, Achieving a Difference) is a City of Calgary certification program for youth in grades 7-12 that will be offered again in Okotoks in fall 2022. The program consists of nine learning modules, followed by implementation of a practicum project in areas such as recreation programs, community events and volunteering.

Participants build self-esteem and self-confidence through learning about leadership, communication, conflict management, problem solving, planning and organizing, personal wellness, leisure education, teamwork and decision making skills, all while making and working with friends!

At the conclusion of the course, participants will graduate and receive a certificate of completion.

Have a say in what happens at the Okotoks Youth Centre. We are looking for enthusiastic youth to sit on the Advisory Committee. There are opportunities for event and program planning, fundraising and volunteering!
