Youth Services

The Town of Okotoks has plenty of youth programs, services and initiatives to support the large youth population in Okotoks. Below you will find information on age-specific youth programs, special youth events, a dedicated Youth Centre, youth volunteer opportunities, advisory committees and more.

Okotoks Youth Centre logoThis youth-friendly facility is for youth aged 12-18 (teens aged 18 are welcome until they graduate Grade 12).

The Okotoks Youth Centre (OYC) is located on the lower level of the Okotoks Recreation Centre, adjacent to the skate park. It has been equipped specifically for youth with a TV lounge that includes a flat screen TV, a PlayStation 4 gaming console, a pool table, air hockey table, a homework area with computers and workstations, and a multi-purpose area for games, programs, and activities. The OYC is a safe environment and is supervised by trained, responsible staff on-site during all operational hours.

Youth Programs & Events

The Okotoks Community Programs team has a variety of age-specific youth programs and hosts many special events for youth throughout the year. These events are a great way for youth to meet new people, stay active and build healthy habits. Check the Community Event Calendar for details on special events and the Drop-in Recreation Schedule for Friday Youth Night activities.

Youth Volunteering

Work without pay? Yes!

Volunteering may be one of the most valuable experiences of your life. It’s a double win: your community or cause benefits from your work and you benefit from your experiences.

Community involvement builds self-esteem, enhances academic performance, and provides a means of exploring potential careers. Volunteering helps develop leadership and citizenship skills, values, and attitudes that you will need to build a positive future, and gives you great experience and skills to add to your resume.
