LEAD - Youth Leadership Certification

LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, Achieving a Difference) is a City of Calgary certification program that will be offered  in Okotoks in winter 2023 for youth in grades 7-12. The program consists of nine learning modules, followed by implementation of a practicum project in areas such as recreation programs, community events and volunteering.

2023 LEAD Program Details

Participants build self-esteem and confidence through learning about leadership, communication, conflict management, problem solving, planning and organizing, personal wellness, leisure education, teamwork and decision making skills, all while meeting new friends and having fun!

At the conclusion of the course, participants will graduate and receive a certificate of completion.

This FREE program is intended to be interactive and looks to teach leaderships skills to youth in the community. By participating in the program, youth will:

  • Identify and demonstrate an increase in self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth.
  • Become more involved in the community.
  • Be exposed to and involved in new opportunities and activities. 
  • Become engaged in meaningful opportunities to practice learned leadership skills.
  • Connect with other people and develop meaningful relationships.
  • Receive a certificate that will enhance resumes and scholarship applications.
