North Okotoks: Located beside the Recreation Centre (99 Okotoks Drive) the Skate Park was professionally upgraded and expanded to 1115 square meters in the fall of 2014. This park contains predominantly "street skating" elements as prioritized by park users during the participatory design workshops held in the spring/summer of 2014 prior to construction. Features include: banks, ledges, rails, a slappy feature, a mani pad/stair/hubba feature, a pump bump, and two quarter pipes.
South Okotoks: The Town of Okotoks is excited to announce that construction on the brand-new All Wheel Skatepark in Howard Park (229 Woodhaven Drive) is complete, and is officially open for all skateboard, scooter, BMX and ‘action sport’ enthusiasts!
This is the Town's second skatepark, and was identified as a priority in the updated 2023 Recreation, Parks and Leisure Master Plan, as well as through the Citizen Satisfaction Survey results and the Municipal Development Plan. Howard Park was chosen as the ideal location for this new amenity thanks to its ample space, existing amenities, and central role in balancing recreation opportunities on the south side of town.
Throughout the design process, Okotoks residents had several opportunities to provide their input on the design, terrain, feature preferences and more for the skatepark between February and December 2024 in two Community Design Workshops and two online Design Surveys.
Howard Park is home to a ball diamond and various sports fields, as well as the new accessible and inclusive playground, where construction is ongoing, but is expected to be complete in late November, 2025.
