• Screening & assessments

  All applications are carefully reviewed and assessed based on the qualifications outlined in the job posting. • Pre-employment checks

  At the Town of Okotoks, we are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community and employees. As part of this commitment, successful candidates may be required to complete one or more background checks depending on the position.

  What May Be Required

  • Reference Checks: As part of our hiring process, we ask candidates to provide a minimum of two references who have been in a position to supervise or assess your skills, including your current and/or previous manager or supervisor. 
  • Education Verification: Qualifications, including certificates, diplomas, degrees, and professional designations relevant to this position. 
  • International Credentials: We require written confirmation by any of the six members of the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada for all education obtained outside Canada, in order to recognize Canadian equivalency.
  • Driving Record Check: Dependent on the position, successful candidates may be required to provide a drivers abstract from the last five years, with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending. 
  • Police Information Checks: All employees must complete a criminal record check prior to joining.
    • Candidates applying for RCMP support services must also complete enhanced reliability and suitability clearance.
    • For positions involving work with vulnerable populations, a vulnerable sector check may be required.

• Employment offers

  If you are selected as the successful candidate, a member of our team will contact you to discuss the details of your employment offer. This conversation will be followed by a formal written offer letter, along with all the necessary instructions and documentation to help you prepare for your first day with the Town of Okotoks.
