While many of Okotoks’ young military heroes returned home safely, some did not. Fifteen brave men made the supreme sacrifice in the fight for freedom and peace. For a small town like Okotoks, everyone was affected by the loss.
Their sacrifice is recognized and their names are etched in history at the Okotoks Cenotaph located on Veterans Way as well as on memorials at numerous Canadian War Cemeteries throughout Europe. However, they are more than just names on a cenotaph; these young men were sons, brothers, fathers and friends. We honour them here:
