The fixed-route service operates on weekdays only. On-Demand service is available on weekends and holidays. You can find those hours of operation below.

Use the Fixed Route Transit Guide to find the bus schedules for both the Kingfisher and Big Rock bus routes. 

Please note:

• BOLD times on the schedule are guaranteed stops. 
• Non-bolded times may vary depending on whether the bus needs to stop and pick up customers.
• We recommend arriving at your stop five minutes early to avoid missing your bus!

Use the interactive map below to search out the bus stop nearest to you:

1. Download the HotSpot app from the App Store or Google Play.
2. Open the app and select "Transit" from the bottom menu.
3. Choose Okotoks as your city and select your route.
4. Purchase your ticket or pass (single fare, bulk tickets or monthly pass).
5. When you’re ready to board, activate your ticket:
   - Tap "Board Bus" in the app and confirm.
   - Your ticket will display an animated screen—show this to the driver when you board.
   - Only activate your ticket right before boarding, as it expires after 15 minutes.
6. For monthly passes, activate and present your digital pass in the same way each time you ride.

Note: You cannot use Okotoks Transit app credits for fixed-route fares. The HotSpot app is only for fixed-route digital payments.

Step 1: Book

• Create your account on the app or online
• Select your pick-up and drop-off location
• Select the number of seats you'd like to book
• Confirm your route

Step 2: Pay

• Add a payment option to your account
• Single ride or multi-ride tickets available

Step 3: Pick-up

• Receive real-time notifications through the app or online so you’re ready at your pick-up location when your vehicle arrives

Step 4: Ride

• Hop on, show the driver your booking confirmation or paper ticket, relax and enjoy the ride

The on-demand service operates seven days a week and runs on all STAT holidays, excluding Christmas Day.

*The Okotoks On Demand Transit app is only used for the on-demand transit service.

*Monthly passes are valid from the first day to the last day of each calendar month, regardless of when you purchase your pass. Passes expire at the end of the month and do not carry over.

**Children age 5 and under will need to be accompanied by an attendant 12 years or older to ride for free. Children must board and depart at the same stop as the attendant. Booking a seat for each child when using the on-demand service is still required.

• Fixed Route: available on the HotSpot* app
• On-Demand: available on the On-Demand app

*Tickets purchased on the HotSpot app can be used for the fixed-route or on-demand service (Note: booking an on-demand pick up is still required in order to use any ticket).

Please note the following conditions for all transit fares:

• All tickets, passes, and fares are non-refundable. Lost, stolen, damaged, or expired passes will not be replaced.
• Monthly passes are valid for one calendar month. Tickets are valid until their expiry date or as otherwise stated.

Refund Exception:
Refunds are only available for Bulk Ride Credit purchases with a remaining balance of more than $20. Refunds will be issued to the original credit card used for the purchase.

Keeping kids safe is a top priority and when it comes to riding on Okotoks Transit, booster seats make a big difference. Booster seats are available on all transit vehicles, but it is up to parents and caregivers to make sure their child is using one if needed. Here’s a quick guide:

• Most kids are ready to ride without a booster when they’re between 8 and 12 years old and at least 145 cm tall (that’s about 4’7”).
• When used alone, seat belts ride high on a child’s belly and neck, and can lead to serious internal injuries in a crash.

Not sure if your child needs a booster? No problem—each van has a bright yellow height marker inside so you can check before you ride!

What is an on-demand service?

On-demand transit is a curb-to-curb ride-share service. The transit vehicle picks you up at the curb near your requested address and riders must be waiting at the curb when the vehicle arrives. The Okotoks On Demand Transit app will give you an estimated arrival time. Unlike a taxi, the van will not wait for an individual to come out of their home or business, nor will the vehicle pull up on driveways.

Will I still be able to access the on-demand service?

Yes, you will! The fixed-route service is being added to complement our current on-demand system, not replace it. While there may be fewer vehicles for on-demand rides, we expect many people will use the fixed-route option—helping to balance things out and keep everything running smoothly.

What can I expect for on-demand wait times?

When you book a ride through the Okotoks On Demand Transit app, you’ll get real-time updates, including an estimated arrival time and a notification when your vehicle arrives. You can also track the vehicle as it heads your way. Just keep in mind—this is a shared service, so routes and timing can vary as the driver picks up and drops off other passengers (the vehicle holds up to eight people).

If you’re booking by phone, the dispatcher will set up your account and give you an estimated pickup and arrival time.

How do I book a bike rack using the on-demand service?

Users can book a bike rack using the Okotoks On Demand Transit app when booking the on-demand service. Please note that the maximum bike tire size is 27.5 inches in diameter with a 2.6 inch tire.

What is a fixed-route service?

Fixed-route transit runs on a regular schedule and follows the same route every time, with set stops along the way. It’s the kind of public transit you’ll find in most cities—easy for transit customers to plan around and great for getting to places like schools, work, shopping areas and neighbourhoods.

Why is a fixed-route service being introduced?

A fixed-route service is being introduced to make Okotoks Transit more reliable and convenient—especially during busy times. It reduces wait times, doesn’t require pre-booking, and can handle more riders at one time. With set routes and schedules, people can just show up and hop on, making it easier to meet growing demand.

Can I use the Okotoks Transit app credits or payment methods for the new fixed-route bus?

No, Okotoks Transit app credits and payment options only work for on-demand trips. For the fixed-route, you can pay with paper tickets, a monthly pass, or use the HotSpot app.

Can I pay with cash for a single ride?

Okotoks Transit uses a cashless system. You may purchase single ride tickets on the app only for both the on-demand and fixed-route services. The drivers cannot accept cash, debit or credit cards.

How do I pay for the fixed-route bus?

• Paper tickets (See fares and tickets for more information and where they are sold)
• A monthly pass (paper or digital)
• The HotSpot app (buy a single fare, bulk tickets or a monthly pass digitally)

The HotSpot app is separate from Okotoks Transit and will support the fixed-route service for payment, route schedule, and real-time tracking. 

You can bring large items on board—as long as there’s room in the back of the vehicle. You’ll need to load and unload your own belongings (except mobility aids like walkers or folding wheelchairs). Additionally, please make sure that nothing blocks the aisles, doors, or takes up a seat someone else might need.

All transit vehicles are wheelchair accessible and will allow you to bring your mobility device on the vehicle.

There is an option for the on-demand service to select this option when booking a ride. If required, the driver will assist you in entering/exiting the vehicle.

Domestic animals are permitted on Okotoks Transit vehicles either on-leash or in a travel kennel and must be under the care and control of the owner.
