Between the months of May and September, the Town of Okotoks embarks on a campaign of conservation awareness in our community. A team of Conservation Educators visit many households in Okotoks, educating the community on water and energy conservation, and waste management.
The Educators also attend all summer community events and provide conservation programs to children at schools and summer day camps. The team works closely with several Town Business Centres, including Parks, Waste Services and Community Programs as well as Water Services to coordinate water, waste and energy education initiatives.
From May through August, they will be visiting households and businesses to talk with residents and business owners about:
- Water conservation, the Residential Water Rebate Program, the Water Meter Portal and the outdoor watering schedule
- Tips on reducing water and energy use as well as common recycling and composting misunderstandings
