Birthdays, Celebration and Event Rentals

Looking for a fun space to host your next event? Our gymnasium and youth centre at the Okotoks Recreation Centre are available to rent for birthday parties, team celebrations, sporting or athletic competitions, family gatherings and more! Your 2-hour booking includes access to the air hockey table, pool table, ping pong table and mini basketball games – plus 1 hour of access to the gymnasium for more fun and activities. 

Rental times: 

• Gymnasium and Youth Centre: Saturday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. 
  • The gymnasium will be available from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and the Youth Centre will be available from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. 
•  Gymnasium and Community Room: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
  • The gymnasium will be available from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the Community Room will be available from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.  

Please note: 

• TV access is not included in this rental. 
• Gymnasium equipment Rentals are available at an additional charge and must be booked below. Equipment available to rent includes floor hockey sticks, nets, or dodge balls. Learn more and book equipment.
• Clean outside equipment can also be brought in, for example basketballs or nerf guns.
• Supervision of minors is required.
• Pre-booking is available 60 days in advance and is required.
• NO inflatable bouncy castles allowed.

Painting on canvases using everything EXCEPT paint brushes. Ages 5+ 

“Simon Says” Art Party:

Follow the leader to complete your mystery painting. Ages 7+

Princesses and Farley the Frog Tea Party

Young girls and boys come dressed in your best for a traditional tea party. Arrive dressed up, hear our story about Farley Frog, have ‘tea’ in china cups, and create a tiara, crown or bracelet to complete your royal attire. Ages 4 to 7

NOTE: Parents supply refreshments and decorations.

Cost: $175 + GST
Max: 15 children
Booking at least 2 weeks in advance is required.  

Birthday party bookings are 2 hours. 

For Creative Kid Birthdays at the Old Church Theatre, the Okotoks Art Gallery or the Okotoks Museum & Archives: 

The first hour is led by the birthday party facilitator completing your program of choice (i.e. an art activity, museum activity or movie). The second hour is the hosting parent’s responsibility. This is when families usually have cake, open presents, play additional games with the children. 

For Gymnasium & Youth Centre Rentals: 

The gymnasium will be available for the first hour of your rental.

For Creative Kid Birthdays at the Old Church Theatre, the Okotoks Art Gallery or the Okotoks Museum & Archives: 

This is dependent on the program booked. The birthday party facilitator spends the first hour of your booking with the children completing the chosen activity. For example, completing a painting with the children in an art-themed party; reading a story and guiding children in a craft in a museum-themed party; or facilitating a movie in a theatre-themed party. 

For Youth Centre, Gymnasium and Community Room Rentals: 

Your group will have access to play games in the gymnasium and then hangout in the Youth Centre with access to the pool table, mini basketballs, air hockey and ping pong! For Gymnasium & Community Room rentals, your group will have access to play games in the gymnasium then head up to the community room for food!
 

• Movie birthday parties are at the Old Church Theatre (3 Elma Street). 
• Gallery/art birthday parties are on the second floor of the Okotoks Art Gallery in the studio (53 North Railway St.) 
• Museum birthday parties are on the third-floor attic of the Okotoks Museum & Archives (49 North Railway St.).

For Creative Kid Birthdays at the Old Church Theatre, the Okotoks Art Gallery or the Okotoks Museum & Archives: 

The Old Church Theatre is equipped with an elevator and is wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately only the first floor of the Okotoks Art Gallery and the Okotoks Museum are wheelchair accessible. The Okotoks Art Gallery studio and the Okotoks Museum & Archives attic are not accessible. Depending on accessibility needs, the location of Gallery and Museum parties may be changed. 

For Youth Centre, Gymnasium and Community Room Rentals: 

Yes. The Community Room has access to an elevator. 

• For Creative Kid Birthdays at the Old Church Theatre, the Okotoks Art Gallery or the Okotoks Museum & Archives:  $175 + GST. Payment due at time of booking. 
• Youth Centre & Gymnasium: $232.80 + GST
• Community Room & Gymnasium: $104.25 + GST

Yes, the second hour of your party is when you will have time for children to eat, open presents, and/or play additional games. 

Those booking the birthday party are the hosts of the party and are responsible for all children attending. 

Only the persons hosting the party must stay during the booking. Additional parents are welcome to drop their children off and pick them up at the end of the party. Exceptions can be made for children with special needs and very young children.

We do not provide any food, drinks, or cake (including for the Princess Tea Party). This is the responsibility of those persons booking the party. 

• There is a small fridge available at the Okotoks Museum & Archives. A larger fridge is also available for use at the Gallery.
•  There is not a fridge available at the Recreation Centre. Please note, food and drinks are prohibited in the gymnasium. 

Yes. The party space will be set up with the appropriate amount of tables and chairs. Basic tablecloths are also provided at the Okotoks Art Gallery, Old Church Theatre and Okotoks Museum & Archives. 

Tablecloths are not provided at the Rec Centre. 

No. Families are welcome to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start of their booking to decorate the space if they desire.

For Creative Kid Birthdays at the Old Church Theatre, the Okotoks Art Gallery or the Okotoks Museum & Archives:

Yes. The maximum amount of children is 15. Exceptions are made for movie party bookings as the theatre allows for a greater number of guests but this must be discussed at time of booking. 

For Youth Centre, Gymnasium and Community Room Rentals:

Yes. The maximum amount of participants for gymnasium bookings are 50 people. 

*For Creative Kid Birthdays at the Old Church Theatre, the Okotoks Art Gallery or the Okotoks Museum & Archives only. 

For We will provide a list of recommended films as well as an additional link to search the film database for which we are licensed. 
When choosing a film it is recommended you provide a selection of at least three, and please do so a minimum of one full week in advance.

Smocks are available for art parties but we recommend letting other parents know that children will be painting and potentially getting messy.

While we always appreciate when families tidy up a bit before leaving, we will clean the space once your party has finished.

For Youth Centre, Gymnasium and Community Room Rentals:

When booking a party with the Youth Centre or Community Room, the space must be left as you found it.
