Nature Fridays: Recycling & Paper

  • to
  • We all use paper every day - from books and notebooks to napkins and packaging. But have you ever thought about where it comes from and where it goes?  Join us for this week’s Nature Friday as we explore the life cycle of paper, from tree to recycling facility, and learn how recycling helps protect our forests and reduce waste. Plus, get hands-on and make your very own recycled paper!

Did you know? According to Environment Canada, of the 6 million tonnes of paper and paperboard used annually, only about 25% are recycled and paper waste makes up more than one-third of all waste in Canada!

Here's what we've got going on this week:

CREATEPaper making and recycled paper collages
WATCH & LEARNLearn what goes where with a fun waste sorting game!
EXPLOREA recycling centre virtual tour, what happens to our paper when we recycle it?

Please note: parents must stay with their children while they are in the education centre.

Hours: the Environmental Education Centre is open Monday to Friday to the public from 10 AM to 4 PM. Fridays a staff member will be on hand running activities, and will be available to chat with the public and answer questions.
