Access to Information and Protection of Privacy

At the Town of Okotoks, we believe in being open, accountable and respectful of personal privacy in everything we do. Guided by the principles of the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), we want you to know your rights:

  1. Access Town records:
You’re welcome to request records that the Town manages or controls, subject to a few exceptions, as outlined in the legislation.

  2. View your personal information:
You can ask to see the personal information we have about you, with the same limited exceptions.

  3. Request corrections:
If you notice something about your personal information that isn’t quite right or is incomplete, just let us know—we’re happy to make corrections.

We’re also committed to keeping confidential and sensitive information safe, so you can trust that your privacy is protected as we work together for our community.
