The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Labourer I (Waste) to join the Waste Team within the Operations & Utilities Division. The position reports to the Waste Team Leader, the Labourer - Waste is responsible for:

  • Assist in ensuring recycling centre operations are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures; 
  • Assist with promoting a high visibility public participation program and related promotional activities; 
  • Accept and sort recyclables received at the Centre; 
  • Clean Recycling Centre building and surrounding grounds; 
  • Assist in instructing the public in sorting procedures and provide rationale for such procedures as required.

What you Bring

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is equivalency to completion of high school education, plus the below:

  • One or more years directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning;
  • Ability to work in all types of weather;
  • A valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (non GDA) and with less than 6 demerit points and no suspension or pending suspensions;
  • Ability to work independently & with minimal supervision; 
  • A positive attitude and self-initiative;
  • Proven good customer service skills;
  • Steel-toed boots and agree to participate in basic safety training as required.
