• Report a Crime Online

  In an Emergency call 9-1-1
  
  You can now report a crime online using the RCMP's Online Crime Reporting (OCR). This tool offers an alternative and convenient way for people to report non-emergent crime without having to call the police or visit the detachment. 

  You can file an online report if:

  • You have lost something that costs less than $5,000
  • Someone has stolen something from you that costs less than $5,000
  • Someone has vandalized your property or vehicle and it will cost less than $5,000 to repair
  • The crime happened within the jurisdiction of the RCMP

  You cannot file an online report if:

  • There is a witness or suspect
  • There are lost or stolen items involving personal identity, firearms, license plates or decals

  All crimes reported online to the Alberta RCMP will be followed up with a phone call from a police officer within five business days.

• Report a Motor Vehicle Collision

  If your motor vehicle collision involved a hit and run, injury, or was vandalized or damaged with incurred costs totaling more than $5,000, please contact the Okotoks RCMP at 403-995-6400.

• Report Lost, Stolen or Found Property

  To report lost or stolen property that is less than $5,000, please us the RCMP's online reporting tool. For all other inquires, please call the Okotoks RCMP at 403-995-6400.

• Report Suspicious Activity

  To report an ongoing incident involving suspicious activity, please call the Okotoks RCMP at 403-995-6400.

  To report any other instances of suspicious activity, please use the RCMP's Online Crime Reporting (OCR). This tool offers an alternative and convenient way for people to report non-emergent crime without having to call the police or visit the detachment.

• Criminal Record Checks

  The Okotoks RCMP detachment will provide Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector (VS) checks to local Okotoks and Foothills County residents only. These checks are provided for various purposes such as: employment, international travel, volunteer work, citizenship, name change, student placement or to obtain a record suspension (formerly pardon).

  In order to obtain a certified Criminal Record or Vulnerable Sector check, you will be required to follow certain steps and pay the associated fees. 

  Criminal Record Checks take between one (1) to three (3) weeks to process and LiveScan (electronic fingerprinting) requests can take up to six (6) months for processing.

  Applicants are required to produce two (2) pieces of valid ID:

  1. one must be photo ID with a local address (eg: Alberta Identification Card or driver’s license)
  2. the second can be an Alberta Personal Health Card, Social Insurance Number, Canada Passport, or Birth Certificate.
• Fingerprinting

  The Okotoks RCMP detachment will provide Civil Fingerprints to local Okotoks and Foothills County residents only. 

  Applicants are required to produce two (2) pieces of valid ID:

  1. one must be photo ID with a local address (eg: Alberta Identification Card or driver’s license)
  2. the second can be an Alberta Personal Health Card, Social Insurance Number, Canada Passport, or Birth Certificate.

  Civil fingerprints are taken for:

  • Name change
  • Immigration/citizenship
  • Certified criminal record checks
  • Volunteering
  • Employment
  • Adoption
  • Visa/foreign travel waivers
  • Record suspension applications

• Camera Registry (CAPTURE)

  CAPTURE is a voluntary program that can help police investigate crimes and keep our community, and your neighbourhood, safe. The purpose of CAPTURE is to build a registry of private security camera locations to assist in police investigations and assist the RCMP with their overall crime prevention goals.

  Often, security cameras capture evidence that can be used to solve a crime. If an incident happens, Okotoks RCMP can view the list of camera locations, and contact the registered camera owners. By providing the Okotoks RCMP with the location of your security cameras, you could help shorten the required time for investigations and provide key information to help find the people responsible for a crime.
