Following the public hearing at the March 23 Council meeting, Okotoks Council approved the Thunder Stone Junction Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP), a long‑range plan that will guide future employment and commercial development in north Okotoks. The plan will work to diversify Okotoks' non-residential tax base, providing additional revenues for town services that residents enjoy as well as support local jobs and investment into our community.
The NASP outlines proposed land uses, road networks, open spaces, servicing and active transportation connections for approximately 190 hectares of land designated for employment uses. There are no residential developments proposed as part of this plan.
The plan takes a thoughtful, long‑term approach to growth, with a strong focus on open space, including an expanded green space buffer between future development and the Air Ranch neighbourhood. Adoption of the plan does not mean immediate construction; development would occur gradually over time and be subject to further approvals and studies.
