Learn how to recognize the signs of elder abuse, and the supports and services that are available for those experiencing it from Rowan House and Donelda Lang, an Older Adult Case Manager with the Calgary Rural Primary Care Network. Rowan House Society provides crisis intervention, long term support and preventative education to anyone affected by domestic violence and abuse in our communities across Southern Alberta.
Elder abuse is a single or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person. Elder abuse can take several forms including physical, sexual, psychological, emotional, spiritual, financial and material abuse, abandonment, neglect and serious loss of dignity and respect.
The Age-Friendly Speaker Series is a partnership with the Okotoks Public Library to share information on topics relevant to healthy aging and to learn about the resources and supports that are available locally.
