The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated Summer Day Camp Programs Leaders to join our team within the Recreation & Programs Team. Reporting to the Programs Team Leader, the Programs Leader is responsible for:

  • Planning daily and weekly activities based on pre-determined themes, ages of participants and available facilities and supplies;
  • Preparing written program plans for submission to and approval by the Team Leader prior to the delivery of activities;
  • Communicating questions and concerns to the Team Leader addressing the quality of the day camp program or behavioral issues;
  • Providing administrative assistance to the Team Leader through completion of lesson plans, attendance sheets, incident reports, supply and evaluation forms;
  • Promoting the program to the parents and participants through verbal and written communication; 
  • Delivering programs that are responsive to both individual and group needs and interests;
  • Preparing and organizing craft and activity supplies and managing equipment inventory, ensuring supplies and equipment are stored appropriately at the end of each day;
  • Provide leadership to volunteers who assist in program delivery, direct volunteers in daily functions; 
  • Attending Programs Leader training and scheduled Programs meetings;
  • Provide support for Kindercare Babysitting Service, youth activities and/or other general programming;
  • Participating in events and special projects as required.

What you Bring

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is equivalency to:

  • High school diploma
  • Education in a related field or comparable mix of education and experience
  • Previous related experience working with children
  • Intermediate first aid certification is required
  • Early Childhood Educator Certificate level 1 or higher would be considered an asset
