The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Labourers to join our team to help maintain the Town’s parks and open spaces, including sports fields, passive parks, playgrounds, regional and local public pathways, the public urban forest and natural areas, and our recreation facilities. Reporting to the Team Leader, the Labourers are responsible for a wide range of indoor and outdoor manual tasks and will be required for events. For those selected to work in Parks, Horticultural information services are also offered, focusing on disease control, weed control, wise water use and integrated pest management. We also manage and maintain the public cemetery, providing a broad range of interment options. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Mowing and String Trimming
- Weeding, mulching and watering trees & flowers
- Garbage collection and litter control
- Toilet building cleaning, maintenance of equipment and indoor facilities
- Event set-up/tear-down assistance and security
- Customer Service
All positions will work 37.5 hours per week, weather permitting, throughout the season however, seasonal positions in Parks are anticipated to work from May to end of August.
Candidates will be required to work weekends.

What you Bring
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is equivalency to:
- 1 or more years relevant experience
- Ability to work in all-weather types of weather
- A valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (non GDA) and with less than 6 demerit points and no suspension or pending suspensions, required
- A positive attitude and self-initiative
- Proven good customer service skills
- Steel-toed boots and agree to participate in basic safety training as required
Candidates with specific experience/skills in the following are also of interest for more specific tasks:
- Irrigation repairs/installations
- Tree pruning (ISA certification preferred)
- Ice maintenance
- Class 3 license
