The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Conservation Educator to join the Environment team within the Community Identity Business Centre, Planning & Identity Sub-Division and Community Growth & Identity Division.  Reporting to the Environment Team Leader, the Conservation Educator will be responsible for work such as: 

  • Working with community groups and interact with residents to encourage adoption of conservation based behaviours; 
  • Promoting and encouraging the community’s participation in environmental conservation strategies through community events and educational programs; 
  • Providing information related to water and energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and waste reduction of environmental issues in general; 
  • Communicating door to door with residents and businesses about benefits and opportunities for energy and water efficiency and waste reduction; 
  • Assisting in coordinating various education and public information programs, special events and initiatives such as pollinator ecosystem enhancement and Environmental Education Centre based programs and events; 
  • Organizing, tracking, evaluating, and maintaining program information.

What you Bring

A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to qualify.  A typical way to qualify is equivalency to completion of a High School with specialized training recognized by a certification and/or a minimum 2 years completed towards a post secondary degree related to education and/or environment science, as well as: 

  •  1 or more years related work experience representing continuous learning; 
  •  Clear and effective communicator, with strong verbal and written skills;
  •  Confident presenter, experienced in public speaking and delivering engaging presentations;
  •  Detail-oriented and organized, with strong time management and multitasking abilities;
  •  Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
