The Role

We have an opportunity for an Asset Management Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Asset Management Specialist is responsible for managing, collecting and analyzing data, developing and supporting the implementation of the Town’s asset management plans, including its strategies, frameworks, studies, business processes and tools, to support capital and operating budget development and rehabilitation and replacement planning of the Town’s infrastructure. This position is also responsible for the year-end and ongoing accounting for assets and supporting the development of financial strategic plans and forecasting.

Are you:

  • an asset management subject matter expert who can provide advisory services across the organization?
  • one to optimize asset management through data collection, analysis, and forecasting?
  • experienced in creating asset inventories, management plans, and frameworks?
  • the person to make and provide guidance on improvements to existing asset management software tools, programs and processes?
  • one who can provide inspiring training to others on asset management processes, procedures, and its importance in making strategic decisions?
  • able to prepare asset-related accounting entries, analyses, and working papers, and support the annual audit process?
  • a person who works collaboratively with a diverse group of co-workers and leaders to advance work in an effective manner.
  • able to develop and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls affecting and protecting assets?
  • able to provide advice, analyses, and support to strategic planning and decision-making?
  • able to ensure applicable regulatory compliance and report on the same?
  • The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with asset management, an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job, and a demonstrated ability to effectively apply them to real-world situations.

What you Bring

Do you:

  • have a university (bachelor) degree or a combination of other related education and experience in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics or a related field?
  • hold an Asset Management Professional Certification or Maintenance Management Professional Certification (PEMAC)? (Considered to be an asset) 
  • have 3 or more years of related experience representing continuous learning? (Accounting experience is considered an asset.)
  • possess a proficiency with software including asset management, budgeting, and accounting systems? 
  • enjoy and are good at analyzing complex data and providing actionable insights?
  • build strong, collaborative relationships?
  • demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills?
  • use your attention to detail to ensure data accuracy?
  • skillfully manage multiple tasks, schedules, and responsibilities efficiently?
