2026 National Indigenous Peoples Day Pipe Ceremony

  • to
  • You're invited to honour National Indigenous Peoples Day with us by attending a Pipe Ceremony at Ethel Tucker Park (behind Bow Valley College Okotoks Campus). During this ceremony, we will be making an offering to creator through smoking the pipe and praying to continue to be kind to each other, responsible stewards of the land and good friends and neighbours.

National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place on June 21 each year and is a day for Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of Indigenous People. For generations, many Indigenous peoples and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near this day due to the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.

In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at the Town Council Chamber at 5 Elizabeth St.
