Project Location
1.) Intersection of Northridge Drive and Riverside Drive. Single lane closures for both northbound and southbound traffic.
2.) Intersection of Veterans Way and South Railway Street. The street will be narrowed to a single lane with flaggers to permit traffic movements in alternating directions.
Type of Work
Exposing buried utilities to confirm location by hydrovac, followed by road restoration work.
Schedule
Work is anticipated to start the evening of Tuesday, June 16 and last for 4-5 nights, weather permitting. Each location will take approximately two days to complete.
The Town has specifically scheduled this work for evenings and nights to avoid disruptions to peak traffic through these important and highly used areas.
Impacts
- Vehicle Navigation: Traffic will be temporarily configured for lane closures with merging lanes on Northridge Drive. Veterans Way will use flaggers to control the movement of traffic. Right turns from Northridge Drive onto Riverside Drive (both eastbound and westbound) may be blocked. Use Riverside Gate and Riverside Way as alternative routes.
- Pedestrian Navigation: Follow signage and observe flaggers for safe passage around the construction area.
- Driveways and Accesses: Access will be maintained during the work.
- Parking: No impacts
- Noise: Expect loud hydrovac noise during the evening and overnight periods.
What to Expect
Crews will be working on the street to locate shallow utilities, so lanes must be closed to give workers enough space to work safely. The street surface will be repaired before reopening. The Town will monitor the surface after construction and address any potholes if they develop.
Why the Work is Happening
As part of the River's Edge Infrastructure Improvement project, this work is an important step prior to deep utility construction beginning in July, where new sewer pipe will be installed across Northridge Drive.
