The Party Moves to Milligan: What to Expect for the 2026 Parade

parade

Okotoks’ annual Parade and Children’s Festival returns on Saturday, June 20, 2026—bringing a full day of community celebration, with a few important changes this year.

Due to the Downtown Improvement Project construction along North Railway Street, the parade will take place on a new route with updated timing to help ensure a safe and smooth experience for residents.
“Cancelling the parade was never an option,” says Connie Drake, Community Events Specialist. “Our focus was on finding the best alternative to keep this tradition alive. After exploring several options, Milligan Drive stood out as the safest and most reliable route for the community this year.”

This updated approach provides a more predictable route, improved safety, and a better overall experience for attendees.

What’s new for this year?

  • New Route: The parade will travel along Milligan Drive, starting at Veterans Way and proceeding eastbound toward Crystal Ridge Drive.
  • Earlier Start: The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp to accommodate the full day’s schedule and reduce conflicts with other scheduled events.
  • Safety first: Planning is underway to support a smooth and safe experience for residents and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Children’s Festival relocation:
This family-favourite event will be relocated to the fields outside the Okotoks Recreation Centre to be closer to the parade route.

Event at a glance:

  • Lions Club Pancake Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (Ball Diamond #10, Okotoks Recreation Centre).
