Just in time for the holidays, the east end of North Railway Street will reopen on Monday, December 22, marking a significant milestone as the community wraps up its major construction projects for the year. In addition, the temporary traffic lights at 32 Street and Stockton Avenue will be removed, restoring normal traffic flow in the area.
Thank you for hanging in there with us. We know it tested everyone’s patience at times, but investing in infrastructure now helps create a more resilient, better-prepared community into the future.
Regional Water Project Progress
We've also got more good news to share. Because this roadwork was part of the larger Foothills Okotoks Regional Water Project, we wanted to provide a quick update on its progress: the regional watermain is now fully installed from the interim well to the Okotoks Water Treatment Plant, with more than 25 kilometres of pipe laid. This includes major milestones such as pulling pipe under the Sheep River and crossing Highway 2. Once complete, the project will provide a long-term water source to help meet future demand in our community and strengthen the overall resilience of our water system. We remain on track to have the system operational by August 2026.
