After third reading, Okotoks Town Council has given unanimous approval to the Town’s new Municipal Development Plan (MDP). Council adopted the version of the MDP that was reviewed and approved by the Calgary Metropolitan Regional Board (CMRB) in December 2020.
While minor adjustments were requested by Council at their December meeting, they have decided to approve the document as originally written as the proposed amendments were minor in nature and can be addressed at a future meeting. Council felt it was important to get the new MDP in place so that the guiding policy would enable plans and objectives, which will shape the future Okotoks, to proceed.
The new MDP is an important guiding document for Okotoks’ future and has broad support both locally and regionally.
The plan, “Uniquely Okotoks,” will guide future growth and development as the town’s population grows from nearly 30,000 today to an anticipated 70,000-90,000 people by 2080.
The new MDP can be reviewed at here.
