Community members are invited to gather for a Pipe Ceremony in recognition of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQI+ People on Tuesday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The ceremony will take place at the Town’s MMIWG memorial site in Ethel Tucker Park, located behind the Bow Valley College Okotoks Campus. Berry soup and bannock will be shared following the ceremony.
Those attending are welcome to bring offerings in honour of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQI+ People. The memorial site also recognizes Residential School Victims and Survivors, and all those who have been and continue to be affected by the residential school system.
All are welcome to attend and take part in this time of reflection and remembrance.
