Limited spectators will be allowed to meet Alberta Health Services directives, which require sports organizations to manage and maintain records of everyone in attendance for contact tracing. Okotoks Minor Hockey and the Okotoks Figure Skating Club have agreed to provide the necessary volunteers to perform contact tracing, allowing for a limited number of spectators.

One parent/guardian will be permitted to accompany a participant under the age of 11 into specific facilities, where physical distancing can be maintained, and resources have been allocated to manage the additional cleaning in the spectator area. Masks are mandatory in all Town facilities for everyone over the age of five; players will be permitted to remove them during the activity.

The Green and Gold arenas at Pason, and the Piper arena at Okotoks Recreation Centre will be able to accommodate limited spectators

Key changes include:

  • Children born in 2010 or before will be allowed one person to assist them in the change room and wait in the standing-only spectator area.
  • Leisure ice and public skating remain closed at this time.

Pason Green Arena

This 1,500 seat arena is also home to the Okotoks Junior “A” Oilers and is one of the premier facilities in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Surrounded by a full 2-lane walking & running track, Pason Centennial Arena is also home to Okotoks Minor Hockey and the Okotoks Skating Club throughout the year.

Pason Gold Arena

The Pason Gold Arena officially opens to the public on Wednesday, January 31 at 4 p.m.

The single most important piece of equipment is a helmet! Effective, Jan. 1, 2018, all users of drop in skating and community programs  and events will be required to wear a CSA approved helmet. All Ages!


Built in 2006, Pason Centennial Arenas is a year round, multi-use facility that plays host to a variety of events including: sporting events, concerts,  weddings, trade shows and conferences. The arena accommodates competitive and recreational hockey, figure skating, family and public skating, and organized group activities.
