The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Business Analyst to join the Assessment & Building Business Centre within the Community, Growth & Identity Division on a 24-month term. This position reports to the Assessment & Building Manager and provides business analysis, documentation, testing, user support, and change enablement for departmental applications, digital services, process improvements, and related initiatives. The role involves Building, Planning & Development, Engineering and Business licensing, with a key focus on strengthening the connections in the land development workflows. Key responsibilities include:  

  • Support the electronic permitting experience for Building & Assessment, and Planning & Development by assisting with troubleshooting, testing, documentation, training, and user support;
  • Work with staff to identify workflow challenges, system enhancement opportunities, and process improvements that strengthen service delivery and operational efficiency;
  • Gather, analyze, document, and validate business requirements for business centre applications, digital services, and process changes;
  • Support the testing, implementation, and adoption of system changes, enhancements, and new business processes;
  • Provide operational support for business centre applications, including issue investigation, user inquiries, and coordination of resolutions;
  • Develop and maintain procedures, training materials, job aids, and other resources to support consistent and effective system use;
  • Support data integrity, accurate recordkeeping, reporting, and continuous improvement within business centre processes.

What you Bring

A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to qualify.  A typical way to qualify is equivalency to completion of a diploma program in Business Technology Management, Information Systems, Business Analyst or related field, plus:     

  • 3 or more year’s related work experience representing continuous learning and career progression; 
  • Municipal Experience is considered an asset; 
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially MS Project or similar tools;
  • Workflow mapping, software and programs experience, design, develop, map, implement efficient processes;
  • Strong analytical skills for requirements and problem-solving; ability to propose innovative, workable solutions;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong multi-tasking, priority setting, and customer service focus
