Okotoks, AB: Westwinds Communities and the Town of Okotoks are proud to acknowledge the Government of Alberta’s commitment to affordable housing with a $3.3 million investment through the Affordable Housing Partnership Program (AHPP). This funding will support the construction of a 40-unit apartment building in the D’Arcy neighbourhood for AISH recipients, seniors, couples, and singles with modest incomes.
The new development has been in planning for eight years and represents a significant milestone in addressing the shortage of affordable rental housing in the Okotoks region.
The project will be built on land generously donated by the Town of Okotoks, demonstrating strong local leadership and community collaboration.
“After eight years of planning, we are proud to see this transformative project come to life. The $3.3 million from the Alberta Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services—through the Affordable Housing Partnerships Program—alongside the generous land donation from the Town of Okotoks, has made this possible. This 40-unit development in the D’Arcy community will provide safe, stable homes for AISH recipients, seniors, couples, and singles. It’s a powerful step forward in addressing the urgent need for affordable rentals in our region and a testament to what true community collaboration can achieve.”
— Don Herring, Chairperson, Westwinds Communities
“At its heart, this project is about creating opportunity and security for the people who call Okotoks home. We’re deeply thankful for the province’s support and proud to see years of collaboration come to life in a way that will truly make a difference. This new development offers more than just housing — it offers peace of mind, stability, and a sense of belonging for those who need it most.”
