Okotoks is a progressive town with a vibrant arts community. The Okotoks Art Gallery (OAG) reflects this wealth of creativity and dynamic energy. Located in the historic 1929 CPR Railway Station, the Gallery includes two gallery spaces for exhibitions , a gift shop featuring local and Canadian artisan wares, and also serves as the Visitor Information Centre for Okotoks.
Founded in 1981, and run by Town staff and volunteers, the (then) Cultural Station was a one-stop-shop for culture in Okotoks, featuring programs, concerts, and exhibits. In 2009, the facility was renovated to meet “Class A” Gallery standards and was rebranded the Okotoks Art Gallery.
The municipally run gallery serves the Town of Okotoks and the Foothills region with ongoing series of professional and members contemporary and historical art exhibitions. As part of the Town’s Culture and Heritage services, the Okotoks Art Gallery, and its upstairs studio, is also home to countless programs for children, adults, families and seniors that explore and connect to art in exciting ways.
The Okotoks Art Gallery engages diverse communities and inspires a greater quality of life through meaningful visual art exhibitions and education programming.
