The Town of Okotoks received $122,225 in grant funding as a part of Aviva Canada’s Charged for Change program, presented in partnership with Earth Day Canada. Program funding will cover the cost to purchase and install four new electric vehicle charging stations in 2024, increasing the availability of public EV charging stations at our municipal arts and recreation facilities.
“The funding secured through Charged for Change will not only benefit our residents but also attract eco-conscious tourists and businesses,” says Okotoks Mayor, Tanya Thorn. “Providing accessible electric vehicle charging infrastructure aligns with our goals of supporting the uptake of low-carbon emission vehicles, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving air quality in our community.”
The charging stations will be installed at the Okotoks Recreation Centre, Okotoks Operation Centre, Okotoks Centennial Arena and the Okotoks Art Gallery between July and November 2024. Each charging station will have two charging ports and the operating fee for each will cost the user $2 per hour (+GST).
