Town receives $9,400 from ATCO Community Energy Fund for enhancement of DIY Energy Audit Kit program

Earlier today the Town was presented with a $9,400 cheque from the ATCO Community Energy Fund. This grant funding will directly support a pilot enhancement project for the DIY Energy Audit Kit program for 2025. The pilot aims to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by offering targeted community education on energy efficiency.

ATCO is committed to building a sustainable future for future generations. Through their community investment initiatives, they support organizations like the Town of Okotoks on their energy transition journeys, enhancing community safety and collaborating with partners to make meaningful impacts.

The enhanced pilot program will operate through 2025 and will include new additions such as:

  • Indoor air quality monitors added to DIY Energy Audit Kits, available to residents/businesses in Okotoks to borrow for one week at no cost.
  • For four months of the year, residents will have the option to book an appointment with the Environment team for a home visit to demonstrate the kit and complete a preliminary home energy assessment to identify ways to reduce energy.
  • Participants who complete a feedback survey will be eligible to win new energy-saving prizes, such as a smart thermostat, advanced power strips and more.
