The Town of Okotoks is announcing a change in venue for the 2025 Taste of Okotoks event, scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year, the event will take place at the Arts and Learning Campus Plaza at 23 Riverside Drive, rather than its traditional location on Elizabeth Street, McRae and North Railway Streets, east of Veterans Way.
This decision has been made in response to ongoing infrastructure upgrades and construction along North Railway Street, which are part of the Town’s broader downtown revitalization efforts. The construction includes significant improvements to underground utilities, sidewalks, and streetscaping, and is expected to impact traffic flow and accessibility in the downtown core throughout the summer.
“Relocating the event this year is a proactive measure to ensure the safety of attendees and vendors, while also minimizing additional disruptions to downtown businesses already affected by construction,” said Allan Boss, Culture, Heritage and Events Team Leader, Town of Okotoks. “The Arts and Learning Campus Plaza offers a safe, accessible, and vibrant alternative that allows us to continue delivering a high-quality community event.”
Key reasons for the temporary relocation include:
- Enhanced public safety by avoiding active construction zones
- Improved traffic flow and parking availability for event attendees
- Reduced disruption to downtown businesses and customer access
- More efficient event logistics in a space better suited to current conditions
