For the last five years the Town of Okotoks has earned the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CAnFR) for our Annual Reports, which reflects the Town’s ongoing commitment to high standards in financial reporting, transparency, and public accountability.

Earlier this year, the Town received the CAnFR award for its 2023 Annual Report, marking the fifth year in a row that the Town of Okotoks has earned the award. In 2023, Okotoks was one of only 18 municipalities in Alberta who earned the award. Read the full news release.

The Town's 2024 Annual Report continues to conform to the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting program requirements, and will be submitted to GFOA to determine its eligibility for another CAnFR award.

About the CAnFR award

The CAnFR Program recognizes Canadian municipalities that produce high-quality financial reports, offering professional recognition and technical guidance to those involved in preparing them. Receiving this award is a notable achievement for any government organization and its leadership. Valid for one year, the CAnFR encourages Canadian municipalities to exceed the minimum standards set by the Public Sector Accounting Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. The Annual Reports are evaluated by an impartial Canadian Review Committee and must meet the program’s rigorous standards, including a commitment to full disclosure and clear communication of the municipality’s financial story in order to receive the CAnFR award.
