In recognition of Pride Month, the Town of Okotoks is working with the Okotoks Pride Committee to create a Pride Crosswalk in downtown Okotoks.
Members of Pride will paint the crosswalk on June 30, which will be located across from Elks Hall on Elizabeth Street, as a symbol that the LGBTQ2S+ community exists 365 days a year.
The Town of Okotoks strives to be a welcoming and inclusive community and this permanent crosswalk demonstrates this support for diversity.
In June, many communities across Canada celebrate Pride Month is a time to celebrate diversity. It is an opportunity for Canadians to acknowledge the LGBTQ2S+ history, the hardships they have endured, the progress that has been made, and the progress yet to be achieved.
Traffic disruptions will occur between 1 to 7 pm while the painting is completed.
