Our all-Indigenous Artisan Market, “Iitohpoom’op,” (Blackfoot word for store) is back for year three! This year, the market will include 50 Indigenous, First Nation, Inuit and Métis artists and creators from across the country selling their unique crafts and art. All sale proceeds go directly to the Indigenous artists and creators. Back this year for a second time is the Tipi Camp, located outside of the Okotoks Recreation centre in the field behind the spray park from Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1. The Tipi Camp will be home to 18 different Tipis for the weekend; ou won't want to miss it. New this year, in partnership with Siksika Nation, we will be adding a two-day competition Powwow happening on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, May 1!
The Indigenous Artisan Market, Tipi Camp and Powwow are part of the Town’s commitment to advancing Truth and Reconciliation, and creating opportunity to celebrate Indigenous culture, identity and art – just in time for National Indigenous People's History Month, which runs throughout June.
