• What's Included

  The updated TMP will:

  • Review land use, traffic data and road network mapping.
  • Collect new traffic counts and turning movement data.
  • Update the Town’s traffic forecasting model.
  • Access current and future traffic conditions, including safety and efficiency.
  • Identify and prioritize infrastructure improvements with cost estimates and phasing plans.
  • Provide recommendations for transit integration, truck routing and active transportation.
  • Align with other Town strategies, including Active Transportation Plan, Transit Feasibility Study and the Municipal Development Plan.
• What You Might See Around Town

  As part of the Transportation Master Plan update, some technical studies and monitoring will take place in Okotoks. Residents may notice:

  • Traffic data collection – automated counters temporarily placed on roads to track traffic volumes and travel patterns. Staff or consultants at key locations observing vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist activity.
  • Signal improvements – adjustments to traffic signals, such as timing, may be implemented over the coming months, to improve traffic flow and safety.

  These activities help provide up-to-date information on how our transportation system is used today, so future planning decisions are accurate and effective.

  While this phase of the TMP update is largely technical, it builds on extensive community input collected through recent planning initiatives such as the Active Transportation Plan, Municipal Development Plan and the Transit Feasibility Study. Additional engagement opportunities will be available as specific transportation improvement projects are developed and implemented.
