What happens beyond the agenda—and what does it mean for you? The Town’s new podcast, Beyond the Agenda, invites residents into candid conversations about the decisions, challenges and opportunities shaping Okotoks.
“There is always more to the story than what appears on an agenda,” said Deputy Mayor Gord Lang. “Beyond the Agenda gives residents an opportunity to hear from the people involved, explore the choices shaping our community and better understand the opportunities, challenges and trade-offs influencing the town we call home.”
Through conversations with Council members, Town staff and local guests, listeners will hear different perspectives, discover what happens behind the scenes and better understand the experiences and priorities shaping Okotoks.
The podcast launches with a three-part series on a story that touches every resident: how Okotoks has grown and where it goes from here. In Growth, Part 1: How We Got Here, former Okotoks Councillor Ed Sands and former Town Chief Administrative Officer Rick Quail join guest host Sara Noyes to reflect on the choices that helped create the town residents know today. The next instalment will connect those decisions to the Town’s current approach to growth.
Hosted by Logan Coutts, with occasional guest hosts, Beyond the Agenda will feature episodes on how the Town sets its budget, supports a growing community and works behind the scenes on major projects and events—and much more.
Future episodes may feature residents, community organizations, businesses and other local voices, reflecting the many perspectives that make Okotoks unique.
Residents are encouraged to suggest questions, topics and guests as the podcast evolves.
