Town Statement on Recent Criminal Charges and Community Safety

We know this news is deeply upsetting and unsettling for many in our community, and we recognize the fear and concern this situation creates, especially when it involves the safety of children. The charges reported are serious and stem from a significant police investigation into the possession of child sexual exploitation materials.

While this matter is now before the courts, the Town has taken immediate steps within our authority.

  • A trespass notice is in place, preventing access to Town facilities.
  • We continue to work closely with the Okotoks RCMP to stay informed and share verified information with the community.

We understand residents have questions about what happens next, including concerns about what the next 63 days may look like. We share that concern; however, decisions related to release conditions and court proceedings fall within the judicial system, while public safety remains the responsibility of law enforcement. We are actively seeking clarity and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

We ask residents to remain respectful, avoid speculation, and not take matters into their own hands. If you have information or concerns, contact Okotoks RCMP at 403-995-6400.

Supporting public safety is a shared responsibility. The most important step right now is to allow law enforcement and the justice system to do their work.
