The Town of Okotoks is committed to upholding the principles of democracy and fostering an environment where everyone is treated with respect, civility and dignity.
Community groups and individuals are permitted to gather, petition or share information on government matters in Town buildings, provided they follow facility guidelines and do not disrupt regular operations.
From time to time, this may include third-party groups circulating petitions or advocacy materials related to provincial or federal matters. Their presence does not indicate endorsement by the Town of Okotoks; it simply reflects their right to access public spaces in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
As part of our commitment to Community Civility, the Town works collaboratively with citizens and all users to provide a safe, respectful, violence-free and harassment-free environment for elected officials, employees, and citizens. We value and encourage the free exchange of diverse ideas and points of view while discouraging uncivil speech or expression that infringes upon the ability of others to express themselves. The Town encourages all citizens to consider how others view and relate to the community and to remember that we are all neighbours.

Petition signing will be made available at all outdoor facilities, the Okotoks Recreation Centre and Viking Rentals Centre (Arenas). Please contact our facilities team 403-995-6334 or use our online form to make a request
