Alberta became a province on September 1, 1905. In recognition of this anniversary and in celebration of our province’s unique spirit, culture and heritage, the Alberta Government has designated September 1 as Alberta Day.
Festivities begin at 4 p.m. with face painting in the park and food trucks. Enjoy a special historical performance by the Guns of the Golden West from 5 to 6 p.m. The Calgary-based troupe will present an entertaining and educational re-enactment featuring both Fur Trade and Old West-era characters. You'll learn about Alberta's frontier history and experience an exciting Old West-style theatrical shootout performance*. Kicking off the movie night at 6:30 p.m. will be Cool Runnings (1993)! Then, once the sun begins to set, we will show Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986). Don't forget to bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks!
