The Town is proud to take part in National Public Works Week! (May 17–23, 2026) A week to recognize the dedicated professionals who plan, design, build, and manage the essential infrastructure that supports our quality of life.
This year’s theme, "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community," highlights how the roots of public works run deep, allowing our community to grow and thrive. While some work, like paving roads or maintaining our parks, is highly visible, many of the other contributions happen behind the scenes. From keeping the clean water flowing from your tap to managing complex wastewater systems, these efforts form the team that keeps Okotoks running.
To celebrate, the Town is hosting our annual Equipment Showcase:
- When: Thursday, May 21, 2026
- Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Where: Viking Rentals Centre parking lot
This family-friendly event is a great opportunity for kids (and kids at heart) to get an up-close look at the "big rigs" that keep our town running. You’ll have the chance to sit in the driver’s seat of these big rigs, explore specialized maintenance vehicles, and meet the team members who operate them. We also encourage attendees to bring a non-perishable donation for the local food bank.
Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing fun facts, technical "how-it-works" insights, and resources on our social media channels to showcase how our team remains "Rooted in Service." We invite you to follow along and share your own appreciation for our local crews using the hashtag #NPWWOkotoks.
Public works services include everything from transportation, water treatment to waste management, parks, facility maintenance and operations. All working together to make Okotoks a great place to live, work, and play.
