October is Small Business Month

Small businesses are more than storefronts and service providers. They are the neighbors who sponsor local sports teams, the entrepreneurs who take a chance on a new idea and the employers who create opportunities close to home. Across the community of Okotoks, small businesses make up the overwhelming majority of the local business community, helping to shape the town’s character and contribute to the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere that residents and visitors have come to value. In fact, nearly 97% of businesses in Okotoks are classified as small businesses, highlighting the significant role they play in the local economy.

Every business licence represents someone who has chosen to invest in Okotoks. Whether it is a family-owned retailer, an innovative home-based business, a local restaurant, a skilled tradesperson, or a growing professional service, these businesses provide essential goods, services and jobs that support the community every day. Their success helps keep dollars circulating locally, strengthens the tax base that funds important municipal services and contributes to a diverse and resilient economy that can adapt and grow over time. 

As Okotoks continues to evolve, the strength of its small business community remains one of its greatest assets. Okotoks Economic Development is proud to be a partner alongside the Okotoks Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures and the Okotoks Elks Club, in helping provide opportunities to learn, network and grow you business in Okotoks during the month of October.

The Town of Okotoks uses Canadian-based company Cyberimpact for our eNewsletter needs. All data, including the subscribe email addresses are kept in databases in Canada.
