Subscribe to AEA alert system

Alberta Emergency Alert has replaced the Safe Communities Network (SCAN) for local emergency notifications in Okotoks. Any local, Town-impacted alerts that provide information on developing emergencies or serious alerts will be delivered to you via the Alberta Emergency Alert app, the Alberta Emergency Alert website, and the Town social media accounts

What is being done with your information on the Safe Communities Alert Network?

The Town is working with the SCAN developers to ensure all confidential information is managed to Canadian FOIP standards. On May 4, 2021 you will be automatically un-subscribed from SCAN and all your contact information will be deleted from the system.

NOTE: SCAN subscribers will not be transferred to the AEA system. You must either download the app or sign up for notifications on the AEA site.

What happens if I still want to receive notifications from SCAN for other participating municipalities?

Several other neighbouring municipalities are continuing to use SCAN for alerts. If you wish to receive notifications from these municipalities, you will need to re-subscribe and choose which notifications you wish to receive. Note: you will need to include an address in a participating municipality to receive notifications (i.e. work address, child's school address, relative's home address etc.).
