Teddy bears to take over downtown

Teddy bear

Families invited to walk or bike to discover the bears. Good luck and happy hunting!

The Town is hosting the third annual Teddy Bear Hunt on Thursday, July 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a free, family friendly event while learning more about important family and children resources available in the community.

Foothills Children’s Wellness Network partners, non-profit organizations, Town services and local businesses that serve children and families will set up outdoor displays of teddy bears engaged in various adventures throughout downtown and along the river valley. Staff will be on site to answer questions, give away small freebies and run fun activities at teddy bear stations.

A map is available for download online or can be picked up during the event at the Okotoks Family Resource Centre (OFRC) tent, located at the Municipal Centre Plaza. Families are encouraged to bring along a picnic lunch, as well as their favourite teddy bears to have checked at the special Bear Care Clinic. Walking or biking is recommended as many of the teddy bear stations will be set-up in green spaces and parks.

Families will also have the chance to win a $50 gift certificate for Granary Road. Enter the contest by posting a photo of your favourite display on social media and tagging #OkotoksTeddyBearHunt, or by filling out a ballot at the OFRC tent. Two winners will be announced on Monday, July 11.

Please note, children must be accompanied by an adult. Should inclement weather occur, the event will move indoors at the Okotoks Recreation Centre. For more information and to download the map, visit
