Teddy Bear Hunt to take over downtown

Teddy bear

The Town of Okotoks is hosting the second Teddy Bear Hunt in place of the annual Teddy Bear Picnic and is inviting families to join the fun on Thursday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Foothills Children’s Wellness Network partners, non-profit organizations, Town services and local businesses that serve children and families will set up outdoor displays of teddy bears engaged in various adventures throughout downtown. Families are encouraged to walk, bike, or drive to discover the bears and learn about resources available in the community. Participating agencies will have staff on site to answer questions, give away small freebies and run activities at most teddy bear stations.

The Teddy Bear Hunt map is available for download online, or kick off your hunt at the Okotoks Family Resource Centre (OFRC) station in the Municipal Centre plaza to pick up a printed map. There will also be activities and fun giveaways for kids at the OFRC station.

Families are encouraged to participate in the Town’s Teddy Bear Hunt contest. They can enter two ways: take a photo of their favourite teddy bear display and post on social media tagging @TownofOkotoks and using the hashtag #OkotoksTeddyBearHunt, or fill out a ballot at the OFRC station. Two random winners will be selected on July 9, and each will receive a $50 gift certificate for Granary Road.

Please note the Teddy Bear Hunt is a fair-weather event; an update will be provided on July 7 to confirm if the event is going ahead. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
