In accordance with Traffic Bylaw 10-10, sections 4.20, 4.21, and 4.22, the Town has declared a parking ban for the purpose of snow removal on Thursday, November 10 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. along the following maintenance routes:
- Elma Street West from Northridge Drive to Veterans Way
- Elma Street East from Veterans Way to Clark Avenue
- Clark Avenue from Elma Street East to McRae Street
During the parking ban, all vehicles and obstructions must be removed from the road. While parking bans are in effect, the public are encouraged to use alternative routes wherever possible to allow for road crews to work efficiently and safely along that road. All other services such as waste collection, emergency responders and mail deliveries will not be affected.
Signs designating maintenance routes were installed along key traffic corridors in the community in November 2020 to enable the Town to issue temporary parking bans on these roadways. This enables the Town to be much more efficient in providing all road maintenance requirements, including snow clearing, street sweeping and road construction.
Residents are encouraged to visit okotoks.ca and the Town’s social media channels for the latest updates regarding parking bans and maintenance routes. Information will also be shared with local media and broadcast on the Eagle 100.9 radio station.
Additional parking ban declarations are to be expected in the coming days and weeks while crews continue to improve transportation networks to allow for the safe passage of vehicles and to achieve proper storm water management.
The Town thanks the public for their support and cooperation while transportation teams continue to deliver road maintenance services to our community throughout the year.
