Kindness Currency, Gift It Forward programs create opportunities for social connections

Okotoks Stronger Together

The Town of Okotoks is launching two new programs to help create social connections and is inviting residents to sign up and submit their nominations and stories.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the Gift It Forward Program encourages Okotokians to recognize those in the community who are helping others with a surprise gift as a way of saying thank you. This is also a fun and easy way to reach out to someone who may need a reminder that they are not alone. Anyone can sign up to receive a gift bag to pass along to those who deserve a thank you, or who need a little extra boost.

The Kindness Currency Program creates an opportunity to share good news stories happening in the community and thank Okotokians for their acts of kindness through a series of monthly videos. Residents are encouraged to nominate people and organizations in Okotoks based on the acts of kindness they have performed to help strengthen our community. Throughout 2021, the Town will share a new themed video every month highlighting one of the nominees and sharing their story.

Just in time to celebrate Family Day on Feb. 15, share your stories and nominate someone for Kindness Currency; Gift It Forward with a surprise gift to someone making a difference; or sign up to be a Community Champion and get to know your neighbours with a free, fun-filled toolkit.
