Nature Fridays! (Theme: Trees & Plants)


Join us for fun educational activities themed around plants and trees! We'll have reading time, an egg carton flower craft, and we'll learn all about leaves with an interactive activity to learn about their shapes and patterns. If you've never been to this vibrant, cheerful, interactive space - you need to visit! There's plenty to learn—for people of all ages!

Drop into the Environmental Education Centre anytime throughout the day, and join one of our Conservation Educators for FREE, fun educational activities themed around a different aspect of nature and our local environment each week!

Theme: Plants & Trees

Here's what we've going on this week:

8 AM - 4 PMExplore: Open to the public to explore

10 AM

Reading time: Books provided by our friends at the Okotoks Public Library, read by a Conservation Educator
10:15 AM Craft: Egg Carton flowers!
1 PM

Learning-based Activity: Learn about leaves and try creating leaf rubbings while learning about leaf shapes and patterns.

2:30 PMVideo time: A screening of 'Gardening with Urban Deer' - a presentation by the Town's urban forest technician that discusses how to cultivate a beautiful yard and garden, while not increasing deer attraction. It covers deer resistant plant options and deer deterrent strategies to prevent deer damage. 

Please note: parents must stay with their children while they are in the education centre.

Hours: the Environmental Education Centre is open Monday to Friday to the public from 8 AM to 4 PM. Fridays a staff member will be on hand running activities, and will be available to chat with the public and answer questions.
